After many years, I'm getting back to my roots by tinkering more with personal tech projects. I'm not sure I've ever strayed too far from them, but over the past 10 years or so I've noticed more of a "I really just want shit to work" mentality. Over the past few months, though, I've decided to start taking on more projects, mostly related to escaping the enshittifying reach of Big Tech.
Thus far, I've built out Home Assistant, set up a Pi-Hole, and completely abandoned (almost) all big tech products. I've moved from MacOS to Linux (seems like everyone else has finally decided to give Linux a try) and switched to GrapheneOS on a Pixel 10 Pro.
Since I'm changing things up, I figured why not update the website to better match what I'm actually doing? I haven't done much with the site for the past few years, though I did write a design/tech newsletter for a short while (and many of those posts are now included here).
I don't really believe in New Year resolutions, but I have given myself a goal of making things this year, whatever that means. I'll write about some of them; perhaps some folks will find the insights and occasional how-to articles useful. I'll also probably post occasional op-eds as well, for what that's worth.
If you want to get in touch your best bet is Mastodon, for now anyway. I plan to keep hacking away at the site and may add a contact page again at some point, though the deluge of dumbassery is a bit of a deterrent.
